I found this video on youtube today and thought, wow, I can not believe this s*it. I do not know if I would attempt this. I just wonder if Greybeard would do it?
The '47 is extraordinary in many ways. I always wanted to go out to Lake Toluca at Ft. Rucker to watch trainees do their water training in it. Many don't know the Chinook will float in relatively calm waters.
It's faster than most realize... faster than the Apache if I'm not mistaken. And the reason the ARMY quit buying CH-54 Sikorsky Skycranes is because the 47-D will lift more. Big, fast, maneuverable, and a workhorse. Still, it's the only machine in the ARMY inventory that can have a mid-air collision with ITSELF! (And one -47 pilot reminded me, there is no emergency procedure for a tailrotor drive failure in the machine.)
I am a Aviation professional here in STL. I have been at it as a career since 82' I have been a pilot/instructor and in maintenance. I am hoping to have the ability to get a long term position flying but, here in STL who knows.
